Hot take: that $120 induction heater bolt kit was money down the drain for me
Bought one of those magnetic induction heaters for rusty bolts at a shop auction in Toledo about 8 months ago. Everyone online swears by them, but on the crusty old farm truck jobs I get, it just heated the head and did nothing for the threads. I went back to my $15 torch and a 50/50 mix of ATF and acetone, which has never let me down. The heater sits in my box collecting dust while the torch gets used 4 or 5 times a week. Honestly for the price of that gadget I could've bought 6 good cans of penetrant and a case of propane. Am I the only one who thinks these things are overhyped for real rust belt work?
