Thought feather edging was lazy corner cutting, until a guy at the Charlotte show walked me through it
I always figured guys who feather edged instead of fully stripping panels were just rushing the job. Last spring at a trade show in Charlotte, an older painter named Ray showed me his process on a wrecked Civic fender and explained that blending into the factory finish preserves more of the original clear coat and cuts down on halo marks. Now I do it on every panel that doesn't need a full respray, but has anyone here run into trouble with color match when you feather into an older repaint?
