Spent 9 hours chasing a paint blend issue that turned out to be my gun
Last Tuesday I had a silver metallic fender that just would not blend no matter how many coats I laid down, kept getting a tiger stripe effect. After checking my pressure, distance, and even the paint mix twice, I finally swapped out my spray gun needle and it was perfect on the next pass. Has anyone else had a tool failure that ate a whole shift before you caught it?

Man, that hits home. I used to think it was always the paint or the prep, never the tool. Took me a solid afternoon once on a red basecoat, same kind of issue, before I grabbed my backup gun out of frustration and it laid down perfect. Now I keep a spare needle and fluid tip in the box at all times, just in case. It's crazy how a tiny worn part can mess with the whole pattern and you just assume it's something else. Good on you for catching it, that's a long day either way.
