Rattle cans vs my old Binks gun on a door respray, and honestly the cheap route held up better
I had a small job on a 2009 Civic door at my shop in Mesa, just a scuff and a blend, and my compressor was down for two days waiting on a valve. Out of impatience I grabbed two cans of matched base and cleared it with a rattle can, and the color laid down smoother than what my Binks 7 does when the pressure drifts. Six months later the door still looks wet and the owner says nobody can spot the repair, while a fender I shot with the gun around the same time has a bit of orange peel I keep meaning to wet sand. I know the old guard will call me crazy for saying it, but for tiny jobs the can is hard to beat. What do you all reach for when it is one panel and you do not feel like dragging out the whole setup?
