I finally stopped using the $12 harbor freight DA on customer hoods after it ate through clear on a 2019 Civic

Was blocking a quarter panel at my shop in Missoula last Tuesday and the backing pad on that cheap thing grabbed an edge and burned a 3 inch streak straight to primer. Switched to a 6 inch electric with a soft pad and a speed dial I can actually trust, and the cut is way more even, has anyone else had a cheap DA bite them like that or was it just my dumb luck?
