Am I the only one who learned more from one fender bender than a whole year of classes?
Three years ago I was working at a shop off Route 9 in Jersey and a kid brought in a 2016 Civic with a rear quarter panel crunch. I had just finished my first year at the local tech school, so I thought I knew the whole game. My boss told me to pull the dent, fill it, and shoot it. I did the pull on a Friday morning, spent maybe 45 minutes on it. Then I filled it and sanded for what felt like forever, and by Monday the filler was already showing a hairline crack because I never checked the back side of that panel. The boss came over, put his hand on the inside of the quarter, and said 'feel that.' It was pushed in about a quarter inch. That's when I learned you can't just fix what you see from the outside. Has this happened to anyone else starting out, where one small job taught you more in two days than a semester of class did?
