People keep putting studs way too close to the center of their ATV tires

I was at a ride last weekend up near Houghton and this guy had brand new tires with studs all bunched up in the middle. He kept spinning out on the icy corners. I mean, you need them spread out toward the edges for actual grip. It's basic physics, right? Has anyone else noticed this at the trails or am I just nitpicking?

Rode up in the U.P. last winter with the same problem on my old Mudders. Ended up pulling half the center studs out and spacing them all around the outer lugs instead... night and day difference on the ice. Could actually lean into the corners without sliding out. Still kept a few in the middle for braking, but spread em out wide.

Smart move. Outer lugs are everything on ice.
