Hit a hidden stump on the Chippewa trail and bent my tie rod 6 miles out
Was riding the trail up near Chippewa National Forest on Sunday and clipped a stump half buried in the weeds at maybe 15 mph. Front end jerked hard and the steering pulled to one side the rest of the way, turned out my tie rod was bent pretty good. Limped it back to the truck at about 5 mph with the bars cranked sideways, took almost an hour for 6 miles. Got it straightened in the garage with a pipe wrench and a torch, but has anyone had luck carrying a spare tie rod on longer rides or is that overkill?
