Finally got a clean shot of the Andromeda galaxy from my driveway in Boise after 4 failed tries
I've been messing with astrophotography for about a year now and Andromeda has kicked my butt over and over. Every time I tried, it came out as a fuzzy blob or the neighbor's porch light ruined it. Last Tuesday the moon was down, the sky was finally clear, and I stacked 90 shots at 30 seconds each with my old Canon and a cheap tracker. The dust lanes actually showed up this time and I could see the little companion galaxy M110 in the corner. It's not magazine quality but I sat there at 1am just staring at my laptop screen like an idiot. Anyone else have a target that took way too many tries before it finally worked?
Ha, I spent like six months shooting Orion and got nothing but a blurry mess every single time. You're not an idiot for staring at your screen, that's literally the whole hobby.
