My mechanic asked me one question about my truck and it made me rethink how I buy vehicles
I was picking up my F-150 from a shop in Boise last Thursday after a $780 brake job, and the mechanic asked me why I picked that truck in the first place. I started listing off the towing numbers and the trim package, and he just nodded and asked if I ever drove the other two trucks I was comparing it to for more than 20 minutes. I had not. I spent three weekends reading forum posts and spec sheets instead of just test driving them, and now I keep wondering how many other big purchases I have made that way. Has anyone else bought something based on research alone and had it turn out different than expected?
Did you ever try renting one for a weekend before buying? That's what saved me when I bought my last SUV, since a two day rental cost me about 80 bucks and showed me the seats killed my back after an hour. Way cheaper than finding that out after you sign the papers.
