Unpopular opinion: the shard of pottery in my hand told me more than the whole museum room did
Was at the Field Museum in Chicago last month and a docent near the Ancient Egypt case said something that stuck with me. She said most visitors walk right past the broken pots to look at the gold mask, but the pots are where you actually see how people lived. I started paying way more attention to the plain everyday stuff in cases after that, and honestly she was right. Anyone else here find the boring fragments more interesting than the showpiece finds?
