The week our dig team argued over a single piece of pottery for three days straight
We were working a site in southern Spain last spring, and I pulled up what looked like a plain brown shard. My supervisor got really excited, saying the glaze pattern meant it was Visigothic, from around 600 AD. But the grad student next to me was sure it was just a later Moorish copy. We spent the whole next three days in the lab, checking it against every book and database, and the air got so tense. In the end, a visiting expert from the University of Seville said we were both a bit right and a bit wrong. Has anyone else had a find that split their team like that?
