I thought the 'lost city' in the Amazon was just a story until last year
For years, I saw those headlines about a huge ancient city found in the Ecuadorian rainforest and figured it was just hype. Then I read the full study in Science. They used lidar from a plane and found over 6,000 platforms and plazas, all laid out in a grid. That's not a small village, it's a whole civilization we knew nothing about. Has anyone else gone from total skeptic to believer on a big find like this?

Totally get that shift from thinking it's all hype to seeing the real proof. It happens with so much now, not just old cities. You see a wild headline and just assume it's clickbait until the real data comes out. Makes you wonder what else we're totally wrong about because we haven't looked hard enough yet.

But is it really that big a deal though?
