Unpopular opinion: I stopped hinging my back cut on every takedown after a close call in Eugene last month
Spent 9 years cutting a perfect hinge on every removal, then a 40 foot maple barberchaired on me anyhow and the only thing that saved my saw was stepping wide early. Now I leave more holding wood on leaners and just watch the top instead of the kerf, but the old crew guys say I'm asking for it, so which is it?
