Serious question, do you spike the top of a removal cut or leave it flat?
Had a silver maple takedown in Iowa City last month where the stump sat at 14 inches and my old foreman always screamed at us to cut a fresh lip around the edge and never touch the top face. I tried it flat this time on a bet with the ground guy and that stump re-sprouted in under six weeks, which he will not let me forget. So which camp are you in, do you make that angled cut or just leave it level and treat it later?
