A retired climber handed me his old handsaw in a Portland parking lot and it made my week
I was loading gear outside a job in Portland when a retired climber pulled up and started watching me set up. He asked about my saw and I told him I had been using a beat up one from a pawn shop for about 2 years. He went to his truck and came back with this old handsaw that had a worn handle from decades of use. He just handed it to me and said "this one's got more tree in it than any new one you'll buy." I used it on a small maple trim that afternoon and it cut cleaner than anything I own. Anyone else ever get handed a tool by an old timer that just works better than the fancy stuff?
