I finally got my vintage coffee percolator to brew perfectly

Found this old percolator at a thrift store last fall. It was all gunked up and the element was shot. Spent weekends cleaning and rewiring it. Just tested it this morning and the coffee tasted great. Feels good to save a piece of history.

Your 'brew perfectly'... read it's the slower brewing.

Actually percolators brew faster, not slower.

My buddy Paul found a 50s era percolator at a garage sale for five bucks. It was all dull chrome with this little cracked glass knob on top. He spent a month just polishing it and tracking down a replacement part online. When he finally got it going, he said the coffee had this weirdly smooth taste, nothing like his modern machine. He won't shut up about it now.
