That CRT discharge advice from a 2012 forum thread just saved my hand
Some random poster on a VGA monitor thread said to clip one end of a wire to the screwdriver and the other to the frame ground before touching the anode, so I tried it on a 20 inch Sony Trinitron from 1998. The pop was loud enough to make my ears ring, but no shock, no drama, and the tube actually powered up fine after I swapped the flyback cap. Anyone else trust decade old forum wisdom over modern YouTube guides, or am I just lucky?
