My friend in Seattle called my old way of cleaning floppy drive heads 'caveman logic'
I used to just use a cotton swab and some rubbing alcohol on my old Apple II drives, but he said that leaves fibers and you need a proper foam swab and 99% isopropyl. I switched over last month and the difference on a sticky 5.25 inch disk was huge, no more read errors. Do you guys stick with the simple home fix or go for the pro-grade stuff on old drives?

Wait, is 99% isopropyl actually better for cleaning? I've heard the higher water content in 70% helps it clean because it evaporates slower.
