Watched 3 episodes of an old mecha show on mute and caught a plot twist early

My internet was down for a couple hours last Tuesday so I threw on a 90s mecha show I'd never seen and ended up watching 3 episodes with the sound off because my speakers were dead too. Reading just the faces and body language, I called the masked guy as the brother before the show said it, which never happens for me since I usually miss stuff like that. Does dubbing or subbing change this for you, or do you catch more when you're not hearing the dialogue at all?
