That stranger at the con told me to watch the dub, not the sub
Last month at Anime NYC, I was complaining to my buddy about how I couldn't get into a certain mecha show, said the pacing was off. This random guy in a Gurren Lagann hoodie overheard me and just said, 'Try episode 4 in English, the timing clicks different.' I brushed him off at first, but three days later I did it, and honestly he was right. The voice actor's delivery in that one scene at the hangar made everything land for me. Has anyone else had a total stranger point them to a specific episode or version that turned a show around?
