A guy at the anime club meetup in Denver told me my top 3 list was trash and then explained why for 20 minutes
I was at the monthly anime club meetup in Denver back in March and we were doing that thing where everyone shares their top 3 shows of all time. This guy named Marcus, who I'd never met, heard my list and just went off for 20 minutes straight about why my picks were surface level. He didn't yell or anything, he just calmly broke down every single one and asked me why I liked them, and I honestly couldn't answer for 2 of the 3. It stuck with me because he wasn't being a jerk, he genuinely wanted to know if I'd actually thought about it or just copied a list off the internet. I went home that night and rewatched one of my picks with his questions in my head and it hit totally different. Now I can actually explain why I like stuff instead of just saying it's good. Has anyone else had a random stranger at a meetup or con completely change how you watch anime?
