My buddy's 'just replace it' comment made me rethink my whole repair setup
Last Tuesday over coffee in Portland, my friend laughed at my 2009 laptop and said 'why bother, just get a new one' when I mentioned the fan noise. But he didn't know I've kept this thing alive through three keyboard swaps and a homemade heat sink mod, and his offhand remark hit different because it made me realize I actually enjoy the fixing more than the using. Has anyone else had someone's casual dismissal actually reinforce why they stick with their ancient gear instead of upgrading?
