Heard a kid at Goodwill call a 2004 iBook 'ancient', felt old but also seen
Was digging through the bins last Saturday looking for spare laptop screws and this kid maybe 14 points at a beat up iBook G4 and goes 'who would even use that ancient thing'. And I'm standing there with my 2006 ThinkPad in my bag that I literally use daily for writing and light web stuff. It got me thinking, yeah it's 20 years old, but it runs a lightweight Linux distro fine, battery swap cost me $12 off ebay, and it does everything I need. The kid probably has a phone that's more powerful but he doesn't know the feeling of fixing something with a $5 part. Has anyone else had that moment where someone calls your daily driver obsolete and you just smile because you know it's still doing the job? Also any tips for keeping old PPC Macs useful in 2025 without wasting huge money?
