Appreciation post: the guy at the Dayton flea market showed me I was killing my old Game Boy batteries
I had been leaving my Game Boy plugged into the charger for days at a time because I figured it kept the battery topped off. Last month at a flea market in Dayton a vendor watched me do it and asked how many battery packs I had burned through this year. I said three since January and he just shook his head. He explained that these old nickel packs hate being held at full charge and that I should drain them down to almost nothing before charging again. I tried it on my last good pack and it has held a charge for 11 days now, which never happened before. So am I the only one who did not know this, or did everyone else learn it the hard way too?
