Hit roll 100 on my home dev setup and the number that actually surprised me was 4
I started keeping a log when I began developing black and white at home, mostly so I could remember what went wrong each time. Last night I poured the fixer on roll number 100, which felt like a nice round thing to notice, but the real shock was page 4 of the log. That page covers rolls 60 through 72 and every single entry has the same note: a strange bright band down one edge. I traced it back to a bulk loader I bought at a camera swap in Cleveland for $15, and now I can't tell if the felt light seal is worn or if I've just been sloppy loading in the changing bag. Has anyone here beaten a light leak like that, or should I just retire the loader and buy pre-rolled film?
Idk man, a bright band on one edge across 13 rolls sounds like a pretty clear pattern, but is it really the loader? A $15 swap meet loader with worn felt is a cheap fix, so testing it with one roll before you dump it seems smarter than buying pre-rolled forever. Maybe it's just me, but I'd tape over the seal and see if page 5 looks any different.
