Spent 45 minutes trying to figure out why my light meter was dead

Turns out I left the lens cap on. Has anyone else done something this dumb with their gear?

and that light meter thing is actually way more common than people admit. i spent a good 20 minutes once trying to figure out why my camera wouldn't fire. battery was fine, settings were right, you name it. turned out i had accidentally switched it to the self-timer mode. so every time i pressed the shutter, it just sat there waiting for 10 seconds before doing nothing because i didn't hold it still long enough. felt like a complete moron when i finally noticed the little timer icon blinking at me. honestly i think we've all done stuff like this with gear, it's just part of learning the hard way.
