I finally stopped loading film in my car after the Rolleiflex incident at the park in Reno
Last month I was at Idlewild Park in Reno loading a roll of Portra 400 into my Rolleiflex while sitting on a bench, and a goose charged me out of nowhere. I fumbled the roll and it unspooled about 3 feet of film onto the grass before I grabbed it. The shots came out with a weird light leak on frame 7 and 8 that I kind of like now, but I still cringe thinking about that goose. Now I load all my film at home on my kitchen table, no exceptions. Does anyone else have a spot they refuse to load film because something dumb happened there?
Goose or not, that light leak wasn't from the unspooling. Film only gets fogged when light hits it, and a few seconds of sun on the grass would do it, but frame 7 and 8 specifically? That sounds more like a leak in the camera itself, maybe the back seal. The goose just gave you a good story to go with it.
