Spent $400 on a touchscreen keypad system for a client, and it lasted 8 months
I put a full touchscreen panel setup in a small office in Boise last spring because the homeowner kept saying he wanted something that looked modern. That setup cost him around $400 per panel and two of the three died within 8 months. The screens just went dark, no warning, and the replacement parts took 3 weeks to show up. I should have pushed him toward plain keypads and put the money into better door contacts and a real battery backup instead. Anyone else get burned trying to give a client the fancy option over the boring one that actually works?
