Tried safety wire on the wrong bolt size and it actually held better
Last Thursday I was doing a gear door check on a 172 at our hangar in Wichita and grabbed .032 wire when the manual calls for .025. I twisted it anyway just to get the bird outside for a test run, and it held tighter than anything I've done with the right size in 6 months. Has anyone else seen thinner wire outlast the thicker stuff on smaller fasteners, or did I just get lucky on one job?
