TIL a $12 o-ring on a King Air nose strut almost cost me a whole Saturday
I was doing a 100 hour on a King Air 200 at our hangar in Wichita last Saturday when I noticed the nose gear strut was sitting low, and sure enough it was leaking fluid right at the seal. Found the o-ring had a flat spot on one side from what looked like old age, swapped it out and re-serviced the strut with 5606, but then I had to sit there for two hours bleeding the air out because I rushed the first fill. How do you guys keep from getting air trapped when you're topping off a strut by yourself?
