My old crew chief in Wichita said torque specs are just suggestions if it feels tight, and that is flat wrong
Had a talk last month with a guy named Ray who ran a hangar at Mcconnell for 12 years. He said he never once used a torque wrench on a cowling bolt and never had a problem, which is wild to me. I get that experience counts for something, but a bolt that backs out at altitude is not the place to trust your wrist. Anyone else run into old school guys who wave off the manual like that, or am I the odd one for always grabbing the wrench?
