Bought a $300 borescope and it paid for itself in one inspection

I always thought they were overkill until I found corrosion inside a wing spar on a Cessna 172 that I'd have missed with a mirror and flashlight. Has anyone else had a cheap tool actually save them money on the first job?

Was the corrosion visible from the access panel or did you have to snake it pretty far down the spar? I've heard of folks missing rust right behind rivets that you can only catch with a scope, but that's a tricky spot to get a clear shot at. Curious if you used the mirror first or just went straight for the scope because of a hunch. That kind of find pays for the tool and then some, especially if you caught it before a crack formed.

That scope saved you time but its just like checking your gutters before they rot out @kim.sandra.
