Vent: my air fryer almost caught fire in my Reno apartment because of a frozen pot pie, check your wattage
So last Tuesday I was making a frozen chicken pot pie in my air fryer in my little Reno apartment around 11pm, and about 12 minutes in I smell this burning plastic smell and the whole thing just shuts off. I pull the basket out and the crust is fine, but the plug on the wall side is hot enough that I yelped when I grabbed it. Turns out I had it plugged into the same 15 amp circuit as my microwave and my roommate's space heater, and I guess that combo was pulling way more than that outlet wanted to give. The breaker never even tripped, the fryer just gave up and the cord melted a little at the plug. I got lucky, it was a $40 fryer from a garage sale and the whole thing went in the dumpster the next morning. Now I only run it on the kitchen counter outlet that has nothing else going, and I never leave the room while it's going. Anyone else had a close call from stacking too much stuff on one outlet, or am I the only dummy who ignored the little sticker on the cord?
