Pro tip: check your air fryer basket for hairline cracks before preheating

Had a batch of frozen fries explode into a smoky mess last Tuesday because a tiny crack I missed turned into a full split at 400 degrees, anyone else ever had a basket fail on them mid-cook?

Oh man, that exact same thing happened to me with some chicken wings last month. The crack was so small I didn't even see it until the whole basket just split apart.

Last Tuesday night I had a whole batch of sweet potato fries go up in smoke too, and I swear that crack was invisible until the basket just gave out at 380 degrees. I mean, I almost set off the smoke detector in my apartment and had to air out the kitchen for hours. It's wild how fast those little cracks spread once the heat kicks in, you know? I'm definitely going to start running my fingers over the whole basket before every use now, maybe it's just me but I never would have thought to check for that.
