My sister's preheat advice was actually correct, I owe her an apology

She kept saying to let my air fryer run empty for 5 minutes before adding food, and I thought it was pointless. Turns out my chicken thighs came out soggy for 6 months because I skipped it. Has anyone else fought this step and then caved?
