My cousin's air fryer tip ruined my chicken for 2 months
He swore by not preheating the basket and just tossing frozen wings in cold, and I followed it until last Tuesday when I finally checked the temp with a probe, they were raw in the middle. Has anyone else gotten garbage advice from a relative that set you back like this?

Why do people act like preheating is some optional fancy step? Air fryers are just tiny convection ovens, and you wouldnt toss raw chicken in a cold regular oven and call it good. That frozen wing tip is the kind of advice that sounds smart until you give yourself food poisoning. I learned the hard way that a cheap instant read thermometer is the only family member you should trust in the kitchen. Two months of rubbery, cold centers just because someone swore their way was faster. Yeah, no more shortcuts for me, I check everything now.
