My air fryer basket coating chipped after 3 months of daily use

I got this cheap air fryer last fall and the nonstick coating started peeling off the basket around the 3 month mark. Caught a chunk in my chicken nuggets one night, which was nasty. I sanded down the rough spots and lined the basket with parchment paper cut to fit. Has anyone else had the coating flake and just switched to liners instead of buying a whole new unit?

Switched to parchment liners myself after the same thing happened with my old basket. The coating started bubbling and flaking off around the same time, and honestly I got tired of worrying about what was ending up in my food. I just folded the parchment into a bowl shape and poked some holes in the bottom so the air could still move around. It worked fine for most things, though the food was never quite as crispy on the bottom. The bigger issue was that the flaking got worse even after I sanded it, so I ended up replacing the whole machine after a few more months. If the liner trick gives you more time, use it, but keep an eye on that basket.

Kinda sounds like your air fryer is just trying to become a confetti maker at this point. Sanding it down is bold, I gave up and just let the basket look like a crime scene after a while. The liner trick works okay but honestly I just started eating my nuggets with a side of mystery flakes and calling it extra crunch. Maybe we should all just get metal baskets and skip this whole nonstick nonsense, but then again, what would we complain about then?
