Tricked my smart home hub into actually working with a $3 timer

My lights kept turning on at 3 AM because the AI misread my schedule. I stuck a dumb mechanical outlet timer between the hub and the lamp, now the AI can mess up all it wants and nothing happens. Has anyone else had to jury-rig their setup just to get some sleep?

Isn't that just admitting the hub is useless if you have to put a babysitter in front of it? Maybe fix the schedule problem instead of stacking band-aids on top of broken gear.
