My spreadsheet habit hit a wall when the AI started doing my job

Last Tuesday I spent 4 hours building a tracker for our team's client follow-ups, then my coworker showed me the new AI tool that does it automatically in 10 minutes. I kept tweaking formulas and color coding because it felt productive, but the tool pulls the same data and updates itself. It made me wonder if I was holding onto busywork just to feel useful. Has anyone else felt weird about letting AI take over tasks you secretly enjoyed doing?

You said you "secretly enjoyed" building that tracker, but honestly it sounds more like you enjoyed the feeling of control, not the actual spreadsheet grind. I get it, I used to spend way too long tweaking rosters that a shared doc could do in seconds. The real trick is finding stuff that actually needs your human brain, not just the busywork that looks productive.
