Walked into a gallery opening in Oakland, saw a prompt display next to a painting, and my whole idea of "process" flipped

I went to this small show last Friday night, right off Telegraph. There was this big oil painting of a Victorian house, but the label beside it didn't list paints or brushes. It listed the AI prompts used to generate the reference, like "foggy street, cracked sidewalk, 1930s lens." The artist was there and said she spent 40 hours redrawing it by hand. Something about seeing that made me rethink the gatekeeping. People online act like you either type a sentence or you paint for weeks, but she did both. The tool just gave her a starting point, like a sketchbook page that talks back. Has anyone else had a moment where AI actually made traditional art feel more honest to you, not less?
