That AI landscape I almost scrolled past actually made me stop and stare

I've been pretty vocal about AI art not being "real" art because a machine just follows prompts with no feeling. But last night a friend showed me this Midjourney piece of a foggy forest at dawn and I couldn't stop looking at the way the light hit the moss. Has anyone else had a piece hit them emotionally despite knowing it was AI generated?

I read an article a few weeks back where a guy said that AI art makes him feel things because it's pulling from millions of real paintings and photos people made. So in a way, it's like a ghost of actual human emotion mashed together. That foggy forest piece you saw probably has bits from a hundred different misty mornings someone actually stood in and painted. I still don't call it "art" in the real sense, but I get why it can stop you cold. The light on the moss trick really gets me too, it's too perfect but somehow still hits a nerve.

Nah, you're overthinking it. It's just pretty pixels.
