That $140 drone I bought for roof shots is now a rusted paperweight

I got it last spring to check gutters and chimney flashing on abandoned farmhouses I scout. Flew it maybe 8 times, then the battery swelled up and stopped holding a charge. Replacement battery was $60, but I forgot it in my truck bed during a rainstorm in Ohio. Tried to power it on after drying it out, and the thing just smokes and twitches. Anyone else have gear die from storage mistakes, or is it just me and my bad habit of leaving stuff in the truck?

and honestly the real killer here isnt even the rain, its that you left a swollen lithium pack in a metal box in the sun. that battery was already compromised before the truck incident. i had a rc car lipo do the same thing, swelled up like a marshmallow in a microwave, and i drilled a nail through it by accident trying to pop it out of the chassis. nearly burned down my workbench. you got off lucky with just smoke and twitches instead of a full fire. next time, store the battery in a lipo bag and keep everything inside the cab, not the bed. heat cycles in ohio will wreck electronics faster than any rainstorm.
