Shoutout to the farmer in Kansas who let me shoot his great grandpa's barn after I thought it was just another boring postcard
I almost drove past this place outside Lindsborg, Kansas two weeks ago. Looked like every other faded red barn from the highway. Pulled over only because I needed to pee and there was a gate. Farmer named Dale came out, 78 years old, asked what I was doing. I told him I shoot old buildings. He looked at me like I was nuts, then said the barn had been in his family since 1911. Let me in for 40 minutes with my tripod. The floor was half gone, hay still stacked in one corner from who knows when, and the light coming through the roof slats was unreal. I had 2 shots left on my roll when he pointed at the old milking stalls and told me to look up. Best frame I have taken all season. Anyone else get permission stories like this? Dale stories welcome.
Dale letting you in is the whole story. Structures like that get torn down every year and nobody documents them first. Getting 40 minutes inside a 1911 barn with the floor half gone is a gift.
