Hit 50 abandoned places last weekend and it messed with my head a bit
I kept a rough count for the last 3 years, writing down every spot I visited. That old textile mill outside of Gary, Indiana was number 50. It felt weird to hit a round number like that, because it made me realize how much time I've spent climbing through busted windows and rotting floors. Most folks think I'm crazy for the risk I take, but that count made me proud of the stories I got out of it. Anyone else keep a number and get surprised when it adds up faster than you thought?

That's the thing about numbers like that, they sneak up on you when you're not paying attention. 50 spots in 3 years is wild, but it's the moments in between that really stick, not just the final tally. Bet that mill had some seriously thick atmosphere to hit that milestone on. Maybe the head mess is less about the count and more about all the silent stories piling up in your own memory, you know?

You heard about my buddy who found a wedding ring in an old church? Weirdest luck ever.

Ha, I don't know if I buy that though. @river_hart18 you say the count sneaks up on you, but I mean isn't the whole point to get a number and see your own dedication? 50 spots in 3 years isn't just "sneaking up," it's a solid habit. I'd argue the head mess comes from realizing you've been so focused on hitting that round number that you maybe rushed through a place like that mill without actually soaking in its creepiness. Like maybe the silent stories pile up but so does the pressure to find the next big spot, you know?
