Unpopular opinion: my grandpa's 1955 Sears catalog kitchen pages beat every modern home design show I've watched
I inherited my grandpa's 1955 Sears, Roebuck catalog from his house in Akron last spring, and I've been flipping through the kitchen section for weeks. The thing that gets me is how honest the layouts are, every cabinet and counter has a job, no giant island just sitting there for looks. I counted 14 pages of nothing but step saving kitchen plans, and each one shows where the mom actually stands while cooking. Has anyone else noticed old catalog kitchens work better than the ones on TV now, or am I just attached to the thing because it was his?
