My uncle swore butter on toast was a myth until 1952

I used to argue with my uncle Frank about how toast was better with real butter instead of margarine. He said margarine was the future and butter was just nostalgia, you know? Well, I found his old 1952 letter in a box where he admitted he was wrong after tasting homemade butter at a diner in Sioux City. He wrote, "That butter melted different, and I've been lying to myself for 20 years." Has anyone else had a family member flip on a food opinion from back then?

Oh man, your uncle Frank sounds a lot like my grandpa. For years he swore by that cheap tub margarine, said butter was just for fancy city folks. Then one time he visited a farm in Ohio and watched them churn it fresh, he came home and told my grandma to throw out the margarine. He said the real stuff had a "golden soul" or something like that, I still laugh about it. Funny how one bite can undo decades of stubbornness.
