TIL those new UV-cure sealants for insulated units actually work
I thought it was just a gimmick when the rep showed it to us at a trade show in Cleveland two years ago. We had a tricky job with a big thermal unit in a cold office building, and the old butyl just wouldn't set right in the damp. The foreman pulled out a tube of that UV stuff and a little light. It cured rock hard in under a minute, no mess. Has anyone else used it on a big commercial job yet?

Man, isn't that how it always goes? You see some new tech and write it off, but then it quietly becomes the standard fix for a real problem. It's like watching a better way of doing things slowly win out.

Was that the stuff from the booth with the blue lights? I read a case study about a hospital retrofit where they used it on their curtain wall. They said the main benefit was being able to seal units in place without taking them out, which saved a ton of time on the schedule.
