Pro tip: A job in a high-rise downtown changed how I handle large panes.
We were installing a 10-foot tempered glass panel on the 15th floor, and the wind kicked up out of nowhere. My usual two-man carry felt way too risky. Now I always check the hourly forecast and bring extra suction cups for any job above the 5th floor. Anyone else have a specific wind speed they won't work in?

Used to think forecasts were overkill, but a gusty day on a balcony job made me a total convert.

Wait, you were working on a balcony without checking the wind first? That's asking for trouble, man. A sudden gust could send tools flying or worse. What did the forecast say that day, like 20 mph gusts or something crazy?

Yeah, I was totally with william917 on that. I used to think checking the wind was just extra paperwork. Then we were setting a big glass door on a third floor deck, not even that high. A gust came through and that thing just turned into a sail. We barely kept hold of it. Now I check the forecast every single morning, no matter what floor we're on. That close call rewired my whole brain.
