I finally had enough of eco window hype. A tight seal is what really saves energy.

My old house in Chicago taught me that. You could feel the draft around the frames on a cold day, no matter what fancy low-e coating the glass had.

Oh man, I know exactly what you mean. My first apartment had those old windows and you could just feel that cold air seep in.

Right on about the seal being key. My last place had double pane windows but the frames were junk, so all that fancy glass did nothing. You could literally see daylight around the edges in some spots. It's crazy how much heat slips out through those gaps. People get sold on the coatings but forget the basics like a good fit and seal.
